David Curtin

David Curtin has more than 30 years’ experience in the communications sector, and has been PR manager for the National Lottery, An Post and FAS.

He has also represented financial services companies that include Ulster Bank and Tesco Personal Finance, and currently provides a communications advisory service to the Central Bank and Financial Services Authority of Ireland, as well as the Irish Financial Services Regulatory Authority

David managed many of the major communications campaigns in Ireland as well as providing a public relations service for major Irish organisations and companies. Having worked on Ireland’s major awareness campaigns, he has vast experience in liaising and working with Government Departments, implementing bodies and public representatives.

He has been involved in major local community relations campaigns, media events and public affairs campaigns in Ireland. He was for example responsible for getting the VAT rate on child seats in cars reduced, as well as the introduction of the BIDs legislation, which allows for local authorities and industry to ring-fence funding for improving designated areas in a city.

David Curtin has a proud track record in crisis management and is retained by major institutions, food companies and airlines to manage the communications in the event of a major crisis.

He has worked successfully on the National Development Plan 2000-’06 at local level; with the Health Promotion Unit in the Department of Health and Children on national awareness campaigns for health issues including teenage pregnancies, obesity and under-age drinking – and on the workplace smoking ban.

As executive chairman of Grayling, David Curtin had full responsibility for the organisation and execution of three key EU Presidency Health events. He also managed the media campaign for the Euro Changeover Board of Ireland.

He liaised with the international, national, local and specialist media, co-ordinated regional information campaigns and contributed to the planning meetings with all other agencies and Government Departments involved in the changeover to the euro.
