Tony Hughes

He spent the first 9 years of his career with J Sainsbury plc working in various managerial and leadership roles within the areas of training and development; HR and organisational development. Tony then moved to Bank of Ireland Mortgages in the UK where he was Head of Training and Development. Within six months he became their Head of Human Resources for which he collected the Human Resources Excellence Award for Financial Services from the Industrial Society (UK) in their inaugural HR awards in 1996.

In 1997 Tony took the decision to move to Ireland and declined a senior change management role within Bank of Ireland opting instead to take up a position with Vision Consulting, Ireland’s largest technology and change management organisation. After a successful transition to the consulting sector Tony moved to work with Genesis. During his time with Genesis he worked on the development of Marrakech, which at the time was one of Ireland’s fastest growing technology businesses. In 1999 he was asked to join Marrakech as Vice President of Human Resources where he stayed for four years leading the development of a number of international offices.

In 2003 Tony was introduced to Dermot McCrum and Donal Cronin and accepted a position as senior consultant to Carr Communications. One of the clients he provided consulting services to was Fergus Hoban. This role developed into a full time position developing Touchstone with Fergus and subsequently joining the company as Chief Operations Officer, where he remains as a shareholder. Fergus and Tony work closely on a number of projects.
