Ciara has worked with Carr Communications since 2013, and is an Account Director in the company’s PR Division. With over 13 years’ experience in issues-based PR, she provides communications consultancy services to clients. On a day to day basis, she manages the PR, media relations, public affairs and event management requirements of a number of high profile clients.
Before joining Carr Communications, Ciara worked on educational communications’ strategies, youth communications, event management, and communications’ strategies and stakeholder engagement for non-profits. She developed a number of youth engagement educational communications’ campaigns and managed events for a range of high-profile private and public sector organisations and NGOs, including the Department of Foreign Affairs, the National Dairy Council, John West, Women’s Aid and the Irish Family Planning Association.
Ciara is also an experienced event manager, having run high profile events and conferences nationally and internationally. She has a background in teaching at both second and third level, and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching Pedagogies from Maynooth University. She also holds an MA in Journalism from DIT, as well as an honours degree in English and Philosophy from NUI Galway. Ciara is particularly passionate about education, new technologies, social media and digital and online communications. She is a full member of the Public Relations Institute of Ireland (MPRII).
Ciara is obsessive about radio and podcasts. She listens to about 30 hours of radio or podcasts a week, and isn’t really sure how she fits this in. She sometimes works with award winning US podcast Love and Radio, helping them with editing, their digital content, etc.
